2009 OPEN HOUSE
06/27/2009:Marysville
Fire Department held an open house from 10 to 2. We had vehicle rescue
demonstrations, fire extinguisher demos, static displays, and let kids use hoses
to spray on fake fires. We also had food and some fire prevention hand
outs. Kids had a great time and also the big kids from the fire house had
a wonderful day. Thanks to all that came out to spend some time with us.
We will have another one during Fire Prevention Week.


Structure Fire
06/14/2009:Marysville
Fire Department responded to Valley Rd in Rye Township for a reported structure
fire. Engine 6 aos to find fire on the second floor. Initial attack
teams made entry and started to put out the fire. Ventilation was done by
next in companies. Fire was held to the second floor of the structure.
Assisting companies were PC 2 and 12. CC were 17, 18, 19, and 20.


Crash at the top of the Gap
05/27/2009:Marysville
Fire Department responded to Rye Township in the area of the top of Lambs Gap Rd
for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Engine 6 (Webster) aos to
find one vehicle on its side both occupants out of the vehicle. Rescue 6
estabilished lighting. Fire Fighters assisted with spill control and
traffic control.

Motorcycle Crash
05/25/2009:Marysville
Fire Department responded to Routes 11&15 in front of the Beer and Soda for a
two vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Engine 6 aos to assist with
patient care. Rescue 6 and Tanker 6 went to the Marysville Lions Club to
set up a landing zone for Life Lion. One patient flown to Hershey Medical
Center. Rescue 6 returned to the scene to assist with traffic control.


House Fire in the valley
05/14/2009:Marysville
Fire Department was dispatched to Rye Township 2700 Block of Valley Rd for a
garage fire. Chief Weaver arrived with a well envolved garage attached to
the house. Interior attack was preformed in an attempt to stop the fire
getting into the house. Fire Fighters assisted with overhaul and
extinguishing the remainder of the fire.

Fatal on 11 & 15
05/04/2009:
Marysville Fire Department was dispatched to the Cumberland/ Perry line for a
two vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Prior to arrival advised
confirmed entrapment with two fatalities at this time. Engine 6 arrived
found all occupants except the fatalities out of the vehicles. Assisted
with scene control and patient care.

Hazmat Refresher
04/26/2009:Marysville
Fire Department hosted a Hazmat Refresher. The event was attended by
Marysville and Summerdale Fire Departments.

Bikers Against Child Abuse Ride
04/25/2009: Bikers
from Bikers Against Child Abuse met at Marysville Fire Department after a 100
mile ride. Fire Department provided a chicken BBQ for the riders.

Uncontrolled Camp Fire
04/18/2009:Marysville
Fire Company was dispatched to Marysville Borough for a wild fire. Fire
department arrived to find a large amount of fire on a wooded hill. Brush
6 (S. Coy and Tanker 6 (P. Coy) arrived with Brush 20 and Rescue 11 to start to
extinguish the fire and make a fire line. Chief 6 had Brush 2 dispatched
for man power. Fire line was established and fire was extinguished. Brush
20 used foam to coat the fire area.

Crash at the Diner
04/07/2009:
Marysville Fire Company was dispatched to Routes 11 &
15 in front of the old Marysville Diner for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
Engine 6 (Weaver) arrived to find one vehicle on its side with occupant out of
the vehicle. Engine crew controlled fluids and assisted with traffic
control.

04/06/2009:
Training burn at the Marysville Sportsmans Club.
Crews went over drafting from a pond and tanker dumps. Junior crews went
over pulling lines and keeping watch on the fire.

Assist with a garage fire
03/23/2009:
Marysville Fire Department was dispatched to Cumberland County East Pennsboro
Twp for a 2nd alarm garage fire. Engine 6 (Weaver) and Tanker 6 (S. Coy)
arrived on scene to find a large garage involved in heavy fire damage with crews
already attempting to control the blaze. Fire Fighters assisted in several
duties and clean up.

Furnace
malfunction
03/21/2009:Marysville
Fire Company responded to 300 Block of Valley St for a residential structure
fire. Units arrived on scene and found only an odor of plastic burning.
Investigation showed a malfunction when the furnace was turned on. MFD was
assisted on the scene by Co. 11 and 2, Cumb 20, 18 and 30.
 CO
Meter for the Ambulance
02/28/2009:Marysville
Ambulance is now carrying on their first in bag a single gas CO meter from MSA.
The meter was purchased by a donation given by a resident of Marysville Borough.
The resident asked to be anonymous. The CO meter was accepted at our
banquet by Ambulance President Keith Morris and Vice-President Natasha Richards.
Thanks again to the individual responsible for the purchase of this piece of
equipment.

Another crash in turn 1
03/15/2009:Marysville
Fire Company responded to Rye Township in the area of 1400 block of Valley Rd
for a single vehicle accident. Engine 6 and Rescue 6 arrived to stabilize
vehicle and establish lighting. Fire department assisted with traffic
control.

11&15 and 850 MVA
03/14/2009:Marysville
Fire Company responded to Borough of Marysville at Route 850 and 11&15 for a two
vehicle auto accident. Engine 6 arrived to find a two vehicle accident.
Fire department secured the vehicles and assisted with traffic control.

Fire Company and Ambulance Association would like to thank the Marysville Lions
Club for their generous donation to both organizations. The awards dinner
was attended by President Bob Zimmerman from the fire company and Natasha
Richards Vice President of the ambulance. Overturned MVA
3/06/09:
Company 6, Rescue 11 and CC Engine 20 were dispatched to the 100 block of Lambs
Gap Road for a auto accident with vehicle overturned.

03/04/2009:
Company 6 was dispatched to 1600 Block of New Valley Rd for a vehicle down
an embankment. Chief 6 (Weaver) arrived promptly to find one vehicle
into the creek with driver self extricated. Engine 6 (Mohler)
arrived and secured the vehicle. Rescue 6 (Richmond) arrived and
established lighting. Crew provided traffic control till vehicle was
removed.

2/23/09:
Company 6 was dispatched to Fire house Rd in Perdix for a
reported structure fire. Engine 11 arrived to find a two story residence with
fire on side C and possible entrapment. Rescue 6 arrived on scene and started a
primary search of the first floor. Engine 6 arrived and laid a supply line from
rt. 11/15 to the scene (appx. 1100 ft.) Two crew members from engine 6 advanced
a second hand line to the second floor of the residence and extinguished fire on
the C side of the structure. Tanker 6 arrived on scene and provided water to
Engine 11 until a pond was established at rt. 11/15 and Fire house Rd by engine
2. Crews from Company 6 worked with crews from Duncannon and Summerdale fire
company to overhaul the residence and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
Special thanks to Dauphin County Engine 37 for sticking around and assisting
with repacking the 5" back onto Engine 6.

Wrecked Car Sale at Marysville Motors
2/20/09:
Company 6, Rescue 11 and CC Engine 20 were dispatched to
Rt. 11/15 in front of Marysville Motors for a motor vehicle accident with
injuries. Chief 6-3 (Hetherington) arrived to find a tow truck
which was traveling South on Rt. 11/15 had left the roadway and drove
through the parking lot of Marysville Motors. Tow truck slammed into the
back of a parked red full size pick-up truck and then into two cars which
were on display for sale. Box was held to Company 6. Crews assisted with pt
care, fluid control and traffic control. By the end of the incident,
Marysville Motors sustained damage to three vehicles and their building.

2/20/2009:
Company 6 was dispatched to the 300 Block of Lincoln Ave for
a chimney Fire. Crews arrived to find a small fire burning in the chimney of
a wood stove. Crew extinguished the small fire and checked for extension
with TIC.

2/18/2009:
Company 6 was dispatched to 1400 block of Valley Rd for a single
vehicle accident. Chief 6 (Weaver) arrived to find single vehicle off the
road way into a tree stump. Stump saved vehicle from going down a 25 foot
embankment into a stream. Company 6 provided traffic control.

2/8/09:
Company 6 was dispatched to Rt. 11/15 in the area of
the quarry for a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Chief 6-1
(Webster) arrived to find a single vehicle resting on top of a large bolder
which had fell from the mountain side. No injuries. Box held to Rescue 6 for
lighting and traffic control.

1/30/08:
Company 6, Rescue 11 and Cumberland
Engine 20 were dispatched to Rt. 11/15 in the area of Marysville Motors for a
two vehicle auto accident with unknown injuries. Chief 6 (Weaver) arrived to
find a two vehicle minor accident. Box held to company 6. Engine and Rescue crew
arrived and controlled fluid leak and assisted with traffic control.

1/29/09:
Company 6 was dispatched to Rt. 850 and
Rt. 11/15 for an auto accident. Engine 6 (Webster) arrived to find a pickup
truck pulling a trailer filled with wood had struck the front driver side of a school bus. Company 6
assisted with traffic control.
